Being Young in a Young Industry - Navigating a Career Without a Clear Path

21 May 2026
The Creator Stage
This session explores what it really means to build a career in a young and rapidly evolving industry, where traditional pathways are often unclear and opportunities are self-created.

Drawing on lived experience and industry insight, the panel will speak to the challenges of navigating uncertainty early in a career - from not knowing what is realistic or possible, to finding direction without a defined ladder to follow.

Designed for both emerging talent and established professionals, the discussion will highlight how early-career creatives carve out opportunities, build sustainable paths, and develop confidence in an industry that is still taking shape.

Chaired by the award-winning narrative producer, host and Head of Narrative at Stak, Nicky Anderson, the panel brings together voices working across podcasting and media, including Millie Chu (Mindhouse), Finn Ranson (Stak), and Anouska Lewis (Goalhanger / BBC Bitesize).

Together, they will share practical advice, honest reflections, and reassurance for those navigating their next steps, while also celebrating the creativity and possibility that comes with working in an industry that is still defining itself.

Through an open and honest panel conversation, the discussion will explore how people continued to create opportunities for themselves after breaking into the industry, how they adapt to constant change, and how they deal with uncertainty around progression and long-term stability. The session will offer practical advice, personal reflection, and reassurance - while also celebrating the advantages of being early and forging your own path.
