String and Tins
Will Cohen is a founder at String and Tins in London, where he works as a supervising
sound designer across narrative audio, film & television, and high-end commercial projects.
A sound designer, composer, field recordist and multi-instrumentalist, he is driven by a
lifelong obsession with synthesis, granular and spectral processing. His work is rooted in
story, shaping perspective, emotion and rhythm through sound, from intimate spoken-word
storytelling to expansive cinematic sequences. Regularly working in a range of immersive
formats, he has worked in Dolby Atmos since its inception across film, television and
longform audio, building a reputation for translating narrative into detailed three-dimensional
sound.
He has worked in audio post-production for more than 25 years, developing his longform
craft from formative experiences on The Thick of It and other shows through to leading
complex contemporary productions, including the animated feature Kensuke’s Kingdom,
Netflix’s Rising Phoenix, and most recently Harry Potter: Full-Cast Editions, where he served
as sound supervisor and sound designer. In addition to his longform work, his sound design
and music for brands including Channel 4, Apple, Audi, Vue Cinemas and Absolut, have
been consistently recognised by industry awards.
Alongside his studio work, Will is an active field recordist. His Silent London series,
documenting the changing soundscape of the city during and after Covid, has been
preserved by The British Library and the London Museum and featured on the BBC.
