Fran Scott is an accomplished Engineering presenter and pyrotechnician. She has been listed in The Progress 1000 London’s most influential people and is the only person to have presented on three different BAFTA-nominated engineering television programmes. A scientist by training (MSci Neuroscience) and an engineer at heart, Fran is an expert prop builder and Science Communication Consultant, specialising in the use of physical demonstrations to explain seemingly complex scientific phenomena.
Gen Z has grown up seeing Fran on their screens, through her often-fiery demonstrations on CBBC’s Absolute Genius with Dick and Dom, as a guest reporter on Newsround, on BBC Bitesize and as the Engineering judge on Channel 4’s UK Lego Masters. Most recently Fran’s love of industrial engineering has taken centre stage with her programmes including Abandoned Engineering (Yesterday Channel/Discovery), Massive Engineering Mistakes (Discovery) and The Department of Complaints (More4). In 2020, she fronted her first podcast series ‘The Robot Podcast’ (ABB) which looked at the innovative robotics-based solutions used within the industry. The podcast hit the top 40 charts in 30 countries worldwide, and there has already been a second series.
