Hannah Ajala
Hannah Ajala is an international journalist and presenter currently specialising in remarkable storytelling and podcasts for organisations like the BBC and CBC, and has recently spent over three years travelling across Africa working on a range of stories and broadcasting for international organisations.
Hannah is a proud alumni of Creative Access, a charity organisation working towards the initiative of having more Black and minority individuals in the media. Through joining this scheme, Hannah began working at the BBC in radio, and then worked her way up throughout the organisation working in digital news, Current Affairs, BBC 100 Women, BBC World, The World Service, BBC Africa, and more. During her time at the BBC, she was also selected to do a TEDx speech at the University of Surrey.
Hannah founded We Are Black Journos (WABJ) in 2018, after her years of experiences working at the BBC and seeing a lack of societal representation in the newsroom. WABJ is a way to highlight and celebrate the brilliant work of Black journalists in the UK, who make up 1% of the population. Through this platform she has built, WABJ have worked with renown news and media organisations from Financial Times, BBC, Marie Claire, PinkNews, Bloomberg, and more.
Hannah is also the host of the award winning and hugely popular True Crime series podcast Love Janessa. Released in January 2023, it has been highly praised across global media houses and also described as amongst ‘the best podcasts in the world.’
