Matthew Shaer is a writer-at-large for the New York Times Magazine, an Emerson Fellow at New America, and a co-founder of the podcast studio Campside Media. He wrote and hosted season 1 of Suspect, which won a Signal Award for Best Writing, an NYU Journalism Award for Best News Podcast, and an Ambie Award for Best True Crime Podcast of 2021. The New Yorker called Suspect a "master class in tone"; New York Magazine labeled it "a meditation on the consequences of systematically shoddy policing." Shaer, who lives in Atlanta with his family, is currently at work on a new season of Suspect.
