Lady Killers: Building A Revisionist Feminist History Universe

24 May 2023
Talking Podcasts ‘Creator 2’
Lady Killers with Lucy Worsley is a historical true-crime podcast and series where Lucy and a team of female detectives investigate the ordinary lives - and extraordinary crimes - of women from the 19th and early 20th century, from a contemporary feminist perspective. Lady Killers was one of BBC Sound’s Top 10 podcasts of 2022 and Season 2 is going out on Radio 4, BBC Sounds and on the RSS feed internationally. Season 3 is now in production, the Open University have come on board as co-producers, and spinoffs are in the works. Producer, StoryHunter, commissioner BBC Sounds/Radio4 and history partner The Open University talk about how this award-winning series was conceived. How the formatting sets it apart. How it is seemingly a True Crime / History strand but is actually revisionist feminist history and a vehicle for new female talent. And how together the team are building a universe of feminist history.
Speakers
Rhian Roberts, Commissioner Podcasts, Formats & Digital - BBC Radio 3, 4 & 4 Extra
