Podcasting as Economic Engine: Powering the UK’s Creative Industries

20 May 2026
The Origin Stage
Podcasting has moved beyond niche media to become a fast-growing contributor to the UK’s creative economy - supporting jobs, regional growth, new IP creation, and pathways into the creative industries. Yet its economic impact remains under-recognised across policy, funding, and investment frameworks. This session brings together industry, government, and platform leaders to examine how podcasting contributes to the UK economy today. Audiences will hear directly from leaders at the Creative Industries Council, Amazon's Regional Creatives Fund, and from the founder behind the production company Persephonica and the Sheffield podcast festival Crossed Wires.
