Senior News Editor, What In The World, BBC World Service

Harriet Oliver is a senior news editor with 30 years’ experience across BBC News.  She recently joined the World Service, leading teams who produce live radio, podcasts and documentaries for global audiences.  Prior to this role she worked as a senior editor on the BBC News Channel and as a programme editor with the BBC’s politics team. While there, she edited the Panorama Leader Interviews with Nick Robinson ahead of the UK’s general election in 2024.

Harriet has extensive experience of making content for young and female audiences. She was deputy editor of the award-winning Victoria Derbyshire Programme. And from 2018 until 2023 she led a team making TV and digital content for school-age teenagers in Africa and globally. She launched three new TV shows and two YouTube channels during this time.
