Ney Alvarez serves as Head of Audio for Al Jazeera Digital, where he spearheads the network's global podcast strategy in English. Under his leadership, the organization’s podcast offerings have seen remarkable growth, with subscribers tripling and downloads—alongside YouTube views—doubling. In 2024, Ney guided his team in transforming the flagship podcast, The Take, into the industry's first daily news video podcast produced by a major news organization. He also created and executive produced True Crime Reports, Al Jazeera Digital's first true crime show. Prior to joining Al Jazeera, Ney led Univision’s Video Breaking News section, covering pivotal events such as the 2017 Mexico earthquake, Hurricane María in Puerto Rico, multiple mass shootings across the U.S., and the evolving immigration policies of the Obama and Trump administrations.
